How to Change NDIS Support Providers

You can explore another provider when support no longer fits your needs. Plan the change carefully so you understand notice, payments, service bookings, information sharing and the risk of a gap in essential support.

A practical switching checklist

  1. Tell the current provider what needs to change if you feel safe and comfortable doing so.
  2. Read the current service agreement, including notice and cancellation terms.
  3. Check current capacity with a possible new provider before ending essential support.
  4. Meet or discuss the proposed arrangement and ask the same matching, cost and continuity questions.
  5. Give notice using the existing provider’s documented process.
  6. Tell the plan manager or support coordinator where relevant.
  7. Confirm any provider relationship or service-booking changes required in the participant portal.
  8. Share only necessary information with the participant’s consent or lawful authority.

Questions to ask a new provider

Official guidance

The NDIS provides a current guide to changing providers. The NDIS recommends checking the service agreement, finding a new provider before finishing where continuity is important, telling relevant plan contacts and updating provider relationships where required.

Frequently asked questions

Can Access4All cancel my old agreement?

No. The participant or authorised person must follow the existing agreement and provider process.

Should I send Access4All all records from the old provider?

No. Share only necessary, relevant and authorised information. Ask what is required for safe onboarding.

Can switching be immediate?

Not always. Notice periods, outstanding payments, funding arrangements, worker availability and service safety may affect timing.
